If you ask anyone that lives in Cincinnati or used to live there what their favorite ice cream is they will most definitely say, Graeter's. In fact it is one of the things that many people who move away from Cincinnati say they miss most about living there. Graeter's was founded by Louis Graeter in 1870 and are known to still use the French pot method of making ice cream that they did long ago in smaller batches to make it more creamy and dense. They are famous for the large chocolate chips that are put into many of their favorite flavors.

La Rosa's pizza started in 1954 by Buddy La Rosa who enjoyed making his Aunt Dena's pizza recipe. He decided to sell some of these pizzas at his church festival and people loved it asking him to make more so he decided to open up his own pizzeria in his neighborhood in Cincinnati. Now many years later, there are LaRosa's pizza places all over Cincinnati including some parts of Kentucky and Indiana as well. The same recipe that was used by Aunt Dena is still used today and they have expanded their menu to include great calzones, hoagies, pasta and salads too.

Montgomery Inn is another Cincinnati favorite and is known for their delicious ribs. It opened in 1951 by Matula and Ted Gregory and started out as more of a tavern and bar with simple food. Matulas ribs and sauce soon were on the menu and the restaurant became the place to go. The first celebrity to endorse Montgomery inn for their ribs was Bob Hope and many have come to eat there since then. Even to-go orders have been made for Presidents that are briefly stopping into Cincinnati. A lot of locals choose to go to the original location or the one at the boathouse on the water for a special occasion.

Probably the best known Cincinnati food would be Skyline chili where they serve a different type of chili than most people are used to and serve it over spaghetti which is now known all over as Cincinnati style chili. Skyline chili was started by a young Greek man named Nicholas Lambrinides and made a chili using several different seasonings including cinnamon to serve over Coney style hot dogs and spaghetti.
